I have the honor to thank you on behalf of the organizing committee of the traditional International Symposium on Animal Science!
I am glad that you were part of this event after a few years of pause. We wanted to continue with great strides forward. I am pleased that Novi Sad was the place where we had the opportunity to hear: experiences, knowledge, and skills of eminent experts from around the world in the passed days, and discuss current challenges in animal production and related fields.
I can proudly say that we gathered colleagues from 20 countries with over 80 scientific papers, who presented their results through oral presentations or posters.
This year, through panel discussions we brought science and research in the field of animal production closer to the broader population and civil society by applying the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation
So, we had the opportunity to address burning topics and provide a more understandable interpretation of scientific achievements through 8 panel discussions with 40+ panelists.
I would like to express my gratitude to:
The Ministry of Science, Technological Development, and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia;
The Provincial Secretariat for Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina;
The Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
As well as to all donors and sponsors who have supported us. I would especially like to thank my team, who carried the preparation of this event, as they have worked tirelessly and diligently to ensure that this year's Symposium is at the level it deserves.
You had the opportunity to meet old friends or make new colleagues, enjoy interesting research results or conflicting opinions. We hope that you went without indifference and remain connected with each other. That is why we had gathered all of you in one place: representatives of companies, faculties, researchers, and scientists, to exchange views and reach conclusions that will be crucial for future challenges.
This year, we had the great honor to have the president and members of EAAP (European federation of animal science), this most significant professional association in the field of animal science, as important guests. The presence of EAAP is proof that we are on the right track.
Dear participants, I hope that all of you at this Symposium made good connections and that you will let your intuition guide you in new projects and useful research. As Aristotle said, "Intuition is the source of scientific knowledge."
Thank you once again and best wishes until the next meeting.
Dr Isabel Casasus
Isabel is the current President of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP). She holds a PhD in Veterinary Sciences (University of Zaragoza, Spain, 1998) and is currently a Senior Researcher at the Animal Production and Health Unit in the Agri-Food Research Centre of Aragon (CITA, Zaragoza, Spain)
Dr. Johann Sölkner
Dr. Sölkner works on University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU), Vienna. He is a full professor of animal breeding and population genetics and head of Institute of Livestock Sciences. He is Head of institute of Livestock Sciences (NUWI), at BOKU. His main interest is genetic improvement of livestock populations by applying statistic and bioinformatic techniques, finding ways of combining high tech (genomic) as well as low tech (simple breeding programs) solutions.
